Experimenting in the Spirit of Evangelism

Does the sound of evangelism make you cringe, and head in the other direction. Wait! Don't go! There's hope. Let’s consider the possibility that there’s another way into this whole venture. Perhaps it's about connection, since that's who the Spirit is, and where the Spirit is already leading. So what if local churches re-imagined evangelism for their contexts? What if experimenting was a new kind of practice? What if we started first by experimenting to discover who new partners might be, and only to realize that those partners might already be doing kingdom work? Let's take up these thoughts together, and have a conversation by considering that evangelism might indeed by re-imagined by experimenting our way into a new future. Come and be curious with us as we explore some new ways to experiment in order to gain greater confidence in the Spirit’s work already ahead of us.

Presenter: Rev. David Hahn, PhD. serves the NW Washington Synod as the Living Local Coordinator. The initiative (www.livinglocalnw.blog) engages congregational leaders in an intentional action-reflection process for discovering and joining God’s work in the world. Dr. Hahn is an adjunct faculty at Luther Seminary and Seattle University teaching courses on the Missional Church, Evangelism, Organizational Leadership, & Fostering Communities of Faith.
