Disaster Preparedness

Congregational Disaster Preparedness from the ELCA
The purpose of this guidebook is to help congregations take some basic and important steps toward resiliency and
intentionality in response to disaster so that they will be better able to serve their communities when disasters strike.

Disaster Preparedness Apps from the American Red Cross
Get alerts, prep tips and essential updates on weather near you.  What do you do if your gas, power, and phones go out
during a natural or man-made disaster? Where would you go? How would you protect your family?

Earthquake Safety
from the American Red Cross
Learn what to do during an earthquake, and how to strengthen your home to prepare for an earthquake.

Disaster Preparedness Network
Congregations of ELCA Region 1 are teaming up for mutual learning, encouragement and support in disaster preparedness.
In partnership with Lutheran Disaster Response and state and local partners in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Montana, they are congregations
training congregations in preparedness and response for times of natural disaster.

Ready is a National public service campaign designed to educate and empower the American people to prepare for,
respond to and mitigate emergencies, including natural and man-made disasters. The goal of the campaign is to
     promote preparedness through public involvement.

The mission behind Be Ready Sunday is to engage faith based organizations from across the United States to take the
time to develop and test a Fire Evacuation Plan for their house of worship.  The Be Ready Sunday initiative has three
easy to follow steps that will ensure your house of worship is prepared should a fire occur during worship service.
