Together Emphasizing Alaska's Mission (TEAM)
Picture

TEAM grants enable new and vital ministries across the Alaska Synod. Congregations can follow the work of the Holy Spirit into new and vital ministries, projects and collaborations with help from the TEAM program: Together Emphasizing Alaska’s Mission. This fund was created in 1997 to support new initiatives that make a difference for the sake of God and the neighbor.

Nearly 20 congregations in the Alaska Synod have received a TEAM grant, together doing what one congregation couldn’t do alone. Grants have also been awarded to 7 ministry partners.

As of 2020, more than $296,000 has been awarded.

Select list of projects TEAM has supported:
* Guitar ministry for teens at Shishmaref Lutheran
* Community garden at Trinity-Palmer
* Family Promise housing ministry for those experiencing homelessness at Shepherd of the Valley-Juneau
* Five Loaves and Two Fish Kitchen (industrial kitchen for non-profits) at Good Shepherd-Wasilla

Here's what people are saying about TEAM
  • We are now better stewards of our land; community and friendship have begun and flourished, and hungry people are fed thanks to the TEAM grant that got us started.”   - Pastor Diane M Krauszer, Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmer (TEAM grant for garden)
  • "TEAM made it possible for us to reach out to the community. The TEAM support through these years has helped us dream big.” - Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey, Shepherd of the Valley, Juneau (TEAM grant for food pantry)
  • "It is good to know that Alaskans help Alaskans, and Lutherans help Lutherans. Go TEAM!” – Rev. Sandra Rudd, Sitka Lutheran (TEAM grant for children's outreach ministry)
