Annual congregational reports
Because we are part of Christ's body outside our congregation's walls, congregations are asked to report on their activities in categories that span the width and depth of ministry in the 9252 congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
ELCA Research and Evaluation helps to bring insight, facts and understanding to congregations, synods, members and partner organizations throughout the Lutheran community. Research and Evaluation is where the church counts! Research and Evaluation compiles trend reports for all ELCA congregations. This information provides insights about a congregation which can be especially helpful during planning or the call process. You can find a congregation trend report by looking up the congregation’s name on our map.
Find your synod reports related to membership, giving, population and demographic changes by connecting to our resources page.
Your congregation's annual report is due February 15. It is common for the pastor, council treasurer and secretary to complete the report. You can find the forms here:
If you have access to the Internet, you can file the Annual Congregational Report Forms online. To complete Forms A and C, go to www.ELCA.org/congregationreport and type in your Congregation ID number and Password. After you have finished entering your data, you should print a PDF copy of both forms for your records.
If you cannot file electronically, complete the paper forms and mail them to your
synod office. Remember to copy the completed forms for your records before returning the originals to your synod office.
