Workshop choices for 1:15pm (choose one)
  • Finding Hope in Exhaustion with The Rev. Dr. Marjorie Funk-Pihl of Living the Resurrection, a church vitality ministry
    • This relentless pandemic continues to exhaust all of us. Fatigue is on the surface, but what is underneath it? In this conversation, we will identify the various emotions that are wearing us out and discover how to use them to generate constructive actions.
Please complete the survey in the link below so that I can tailor our conversation to your experiences.

  • Telling the stories of our congregations with ELCA Churchwide Communication Staff
    • They will lead us in identifying a good story and how to tell it for various audiences. There will be time to share ideas about what’s happening in your congregation and how you might frame that as a story of God at work.

Workshop choices for 2:30pm (choose one)
  • Becoming Ready: Developing a Congregational Disaster Plan with Alan Budahl of Lutheran Social Services of Alaska and Bishop-emeritus Dave Brauer-Rieke, Region 1 & 2 Lutheran Disaster Response.
    • The purpose of this workshop is to help congregations take some basic and important steps toward resiliency and intentionality in response to disaster so that they will be better able to serve their communities when disasters strike.

  • Climate Justice and Faith with Deb Nyquist, PLTS Climate Justice Program participant and member of Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna
    • This program cultivates moral, spiritual, and practical power for leadership in the work of climate justice in communities of faith and in collaboration with others.  Topics covered include theology, ethics, and spirituality related to climate justice; climate change knowledge; and social change practices that connect ecological well-being with racial, economic, and gender justice.
    • Register for this workshop here.

  • Micro-Aggressions with Sister Kelly Marciales, ELCA Community Organizing Program Coordinator and Director of the Organizing for Mission Network
    • Every person organizes information from their environment into categories that inform decision-making. This is our implicit bias. When those categories do harm by our words and actions, they can take the form of microaggressions. This workshop will discuss implicit bias, microaggressions, and offer practical tools to reduce harm and how to attend to impact when harm is done.
