Talking about Race in Our FamiliesYou are invited to this event coordinated by Alaska Synod leaders, on Saturday, February 3, 9 AM to noon at Lutheran Church of Hope, Anchorage. There will be separate content for adults and children ages 4-12.
Is this event right for me? The answer is YES if: • You wonder how to talk about race and racism with children in your life • You work with children or know some and care about how they learn about race • You've had a hard time explaining race, privilege and related concepts • You feel overwhelmed with what you hear in the news about race • Your faith moves you to care about racial justice • You want a safe and just world for people of all skin colors |
What we will do |
This event, led by Lutheran leaders from the Anchorage bowl, is geared toward parents and anyone who cares about how we have conversation about race and racism. We'll focus on learning key concepts and listening to each other's experiences. No shaming or blaming – just honest conversation and building of awareness.
